A range of maintained and non-maintained emergency lighting products for a wide range of applications.
Emergency lighting is a battery powered light which automatically comes on in the event of a power cut in a building. This sort of lighting is typical in highly occupied residential buildings along with most commercial buildings.
Nearly all building codes require the installation of emergency lighting in older buildings too for health and safety reasons. Modern day emergency lighting is installed is nearly every highly occupied and commercial building and the light itself usually consists of one (or more) incandescent bulbs or clusters of LEDs.
Modern fittings usually have a testing setting or button which can override the unit, turning on the light using the battery, even if the mains are still switched on. This is useful to test the functionality of the fitting, ensuring the light will still work in the event of a power cut.
Nearly all emergency lighting units have a reflector to focus the light they produce in a particular direction, fire exits and other escape routes are usually where the light is pointed towards to aid escape in the event of an emergency. Most fittings are low voltage, usually around 12V, this will reduce the size of the batteries along with reducing the subsequent load on the circuit which the emergency light is wired to.Modern fixtures will include a small transformer which will reduce the voltage of the mains current to the low power which is required by the fitting. This is usually found in the base of the fitting. iViz offers a range of replacement batteries for your emergency light. These are nickel cadmium batteries which are virtually universal for nearly all emergency lighting fittings.
At iViz, we supply a wide variety of emergency lighting products, there can include outdoor bulkheads, indoor bulkheads, illuminated fire exit signs, 2D bulkheads, LED emergency fittings, emergency twinspots and conversion kits. Illuminated fire exits signs are ideal for all new builds as they do two jobs at the same time.
The illumination will provide people inside the building another source of light whilst also showing the exits. These are available in both maintained and non-maintained versions, we also offer LED versions of this products.
Internal and external bulkheads are another cost effective way of directing people to exits and other appropriate areas. These are usually made from tough polycarbonate and steel, and usually can either be mounted onto the wall or onto the ceiling, whichever is better suited to your building.
